Lady Rebels Shutout Ramsay at Historic Legion Field

    The Lady Rebels Flag Football team took on the Ramsay Rams at historic Legion Field and came away with two wins. The Varsity won 27-0 in the first game and the Junior Varsity won 6-2 in the night cap.
    The Varsity game was led by sophomore quarterback Julia Rose who went 19/27 in pass attempts. Seniors Christiana Belcher, River Riley, and Savannah Grayson scored touchdowns for the Rebels as did freshman Callie Davis. Senior Riley Newsome, junior Layne Turner, and sophomore Chloe Leahy all got in on the action by scoring an extra point each.
River Riley led the defense with 2 sacks for a total loss of 8 yards, and senior Gabi Ramirez followed suit with one sack for a loss of 4 yards. Senior Madison Blackburn was crucial in the shut out with an interception.
    The Lady Rebels defense continues to harass offenses with pass deflections, interceptions, sacks, and strong flag pulls. The Varsity team has outscored their opponents 60-13 in three games.
    The Junior Varsity team worked through some adversity and picked up the win with a clutch touchdown pass thrown by sophomore Chloe Leahy and caught by sophomore Amelia Davis in the final seconds of the game. Senior Elizabeth Ann Cooper was strong on defense with an interception, as was sophomore Lillian Hill with two interceptions. Also helping in the defensive battle was freshman Emma Harper with 2 sacks, and senior Maddie Hunsberger with 1 sack, for a total loss of 11 yards. The Junior Varsity team is 2-0.
    The Lady Rebels take on the Mountain Brook Spartans at Mt. Brook, Wednesday September 20^th at 5:30.
