Julia Rose is the AHSAA Birmngham Area Athlete of the Week for week one of the 2024 season. At halftime, of the Vestavia Hills vs. Opelika flag football game, Tuesday (9/17/24) at Thompson-Reynolds Stadium Pete Storey, Sales Team Manager of Majestic Caverns in Childersburg presented Julia with a certificate.
Julia led the Lady Rebels to three wins beating Smiths Station (38-6), Opelika (33-12) and Homewood (44-6) the first week of the season. The junior quarterback was 17of 27 passing for 262 yards and five touchdowns in the win over the Patriots. Layne Turner (Sr.) had six catches for 67 yards and one TD. Alexis Rubin (Soph.) added four catches for 88 yards and a TD, and sophomore Callie Davis caught three passes for 48 yards and two scores.
